Are you looking for new ideas on how to implement ICT into your English lessons? Do you want to update your speaking skills by talking with a Native English speaker? Would you like to gain new pedagogical ideas for your English lessons? Do you want to know more learning games, hands-on methods and let the learners be more creative? Want to become more comfortable in using ICT (apps) in your teaching? 

If you have said “yes” to any of these questions you should join us on this in-service course. This short (2-days) course is designed for international teachers and for Finnish English teachers (pls see the dates). Let us upgrade and update our lessons and change the way we teach this school year!

aims to deliver new ideas and show better ways to implement tablets into everyday teaching and learning as well as making you more confident in the way you use and speak English. Even English teachers need to update their skills from time to time. With us you will acquire new learning games, teaching tools, apps or ‘know-how’ in order to deliver lessons in easier ways - and all delivered in a positive atmosphere!

The course focuses on teaching English, iPads/tablets, co-sharing ideas and pedagogical methods.

COURSE OVERVIEW

COURSE THEMES:

    1) Gain More Knowledge of English Language and Culture – Native talks & Pronunciation
    2) ICT: Tablets or/and Smart Phones in English Lessons – New Ideas and Best Practices

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND WHAT YOU WILL GAIN:

  1. Update your English skills – talk to a native in group talks
  2. Learn more ICT skills – what kind of apps there are for teaching English
  3. Get ideas od implementing ICT, tablets and smart phones into your lessons, including creative learning tools update your pedagogical approach
  4. Use new tools for school work (writing, listening, memorizing, learning games and tests) – let’s make learning fun
  5. Share & Get tips on how to update your own lessons & pedagogical apprach

USED METHODS:
Lectures, group/pair work, hands-on sessions, workshops and talks.

TARGET GROUP:
English as a Second Language Teachers from on all school levels

DATES & LOCATION: 
Helsinki, Finland
1.  course 26-27.10.2017 (for Finnish English teachers)
Duration of the course is 2 days + ½ day of pre-work.

COURSE LANGUAGE:
The course will be held in English (international courses)
and Finnish & English (for Finnish teacher courses).

WHAT TO BRING:

  1. An iPad or Android tablet. This course focuses mainly on iPads, but most of the examples, apps & ideas will also fit the needs of the Android users.

FUNDING:

You can
a) ask your employer to pay for the course fee
b) pay the course fee by yourself and get tax deductions (Finnish teachers)
c) apply for European Union’s Erasmus + funding for the course from your national EU Agency. The Erasmus + Ka 1 program covers most of the costs, including:
- travel costs:  
 Depend on the distance: to and from the course town.
- accommodation and food money
The daily allowance is based on the destination and its living costs (75-120€/day)
- course fee:
70€/per training day / personal expenses
+ 350€/person in the organization.

COURSE FEE:

The 2-day course's fee includes: course city info, the course agenda, training (7h/per day), course material, social event, course certificate, Europass signatures, VAT tax as well as help and online assistance pre and after the course, if needed.

85€ / participant / day  (170€ for the course)

Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and food supply expenses.
They can apply for an Erasmus+ KA1 funding.

Please bear in mind that you can only use Erasmus+ funding by travelling to another EU country.
You can't use Erasmus+ KA1 funds for a training in your country.

The course will be organized by a Finnish summer school company called piTRY Education & TRYcamps. The owner of the summer school company has been working in the field of education since the 90’s and is widely experienced in the field of language travel and EU-projects & Erasmus+ courses.
